Quilt Fabric Calculator is a small, free planning tool for quilters. It brings backing, batting, and binding estimates into one place and keeps the assumptions visible so you can adjust them before shopping.
How the estimate works
Backing is calculated from your finished quilt size, the extra you choose on each side, and the selected fabric width. Batting adds its own allowance. Binding uses the quilt perimeter, your waste percentage, and the strip width.
Use your best judgement
Every quilt is different. Directional prints, seams, shrinkage, curved edges, and a longarm shop's requirements can change the amount you need. Treat the result as a starting estimate and confirm with your pattern or quilter.
